It really is amazing that God is so patient, so humble, so willing to endure hardship.  Here's the rub though.  You ready? God wants all of us who would follow Him to do the same!

     Oh man, here's the part that hurts.  Jesus' example is just that, an example...to follow!

Sometimes, as a parent, I get tasky.  I get focused on what I am doing and not on the big picture.  In those times, it's really easy to use my authority over my kids to be selfish and force them into my schedule instead of build them up in their own right, apart from my immediate wishes.  Unfortunately, that is not helpful for them, or me, or the Lord's purposes in my life or theirs!  Not only is it not helpful, but it often

     Do you love the truth?  How do you know?
     This is an important question because God says that he wants people to live out steadfast love.  It is better to be poor for clinging to the truth than lie and get ahead (Proverbs 19:22).  Furthermore, the Scriptures teach that lying is not neutral, but an imitation of the evil one: "[The devil] was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies."  John 8:44.
