A Sun and a Shield

A Sun and a Shield

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor.  No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.  O Lord of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you!  Psalm 84:11-12

God > Earth

God > Earth

Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations.  Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.  Psalm 90:1-2

Sunsets and Majesty

Sunsets and Majesty

If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.  1 John 1:7 "Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."  John 8:12 (ESV)

Whom Do You Serve?

Set Free     Do you love the truth?  How do you know?
This is an important question because God says that he wants people to live out steadfast love.  It is better to be poor for clinging to the truth than lie and get ahead (Proverbs 19:22).  Furthermore, the Scriptures teach that lying is not neutral, but an imitation of the evil one: "[The devil] was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies."  John 8:44.

Worthy Eyes

Worthy Eyes     In 2009, few things are off limits.  In America, you can turn on the TV, internet, iPhone, Blackberry or whatever and find just about anything you want to see, hear or read within seconds.  Few things seem to be off-limits and now there are even so-called reality shows that allow viewers to look in on non-actors engaged in real-life inappropriateness.  King David's words are a sharp contrast as he reflects on God's goodness:

Psalm 101:1-4 (ESV)
    A Psalm of David.

Jerk

I got to be a jerk today,
I'm really glad I was
I stood for truth, I stood for right.
I stood with God, because,
My son- he needs a father
Not a friend who lets him whine.
He needs a man who stands against his rude, obnoxious times.
I'm sorry for the moment's pain
I'm glad for what it buys
For one day not too far from now,
God will make him good and wise.

My son may be a champion, a leader for some cause,
I want to shape and form him so his life is spent for God.
He may be a missionary, or he may guard our coasts.
He may play the violin, be a running back, or both!

Man and Mission Minded

As you may know, we've recently left the church we've been part of since June of '07.  This time (between leaving and next steps) is very challenging.
